Casting Succlulents

The first time I made succulents into silver was the first time that I ever tried casting. They turned out soooo cool. I need to do more. I’m walking all over southwest Colorado thinking, “That could be silver." My mom says I sound like Gloria Swanson. (I'm ready for my closeup Mr. Deville) As i talk about putting plants forever in silver so they can never die. The irony is that they have to die to do so. I think their beauty needs to be preciously preserved.

If you’ve never been to the Durango Gem and Mineral Club, it’s something everyone should experience. It’s $25 for the entire year membership and it’s three dollars per visit to the shop. They have every tool you would ever need at your disposal. All you have to do is bring your own metals. They have a wealth of teachers in the metal arts as well as lapidary. It’s is truly one of the greatest resources we have in this quaint little town. Charlotte Lessen was kind enough to give me my own private casting lesson and it was truly a wonderful experience. She is an artist or yoga teacher and you can view her work here. I will have a sequel to this post once I get these little beauties immortalized.
